Boho Braid Inspiration

The COLOUR artist crew spent our Saturday afternoon talking fashion and hair at the fabulous Michael Stars Boutique at Ponce City Market.

Crowds lined up to experience a quick on-the-go braid by our stylists, Troia and Ashley. Did you know you can book braids off of our secret menu? The variety of braid styles these talented ladies did was endless-- dutch braids, fishtails (for locs, too!), classic French braids, and undone crown braids galore.

On the fashion front...

COLOUR Creative Director of Lifestyle McKenzie Renae (center) and Ambassador Jasmine Crockett shared some of their favorite trends to transition to fall:

  • Mckenzie's fave pieces were a racerback tank dress paired with a sexy long sweater (or leather jacket, for a bit more edge).

  • For Jasmine, fall is all about a breezy dress or tunic paired with leggings.

We were all obsessed with the accessory du jour, a Gilded Rancher hat. So chic!

What are your favorite fall looks?

Colorfully yours,

Debra & Stephanie

Meet COLOUR Stylist Ashley!

COLOUR works because...

We have a dynamic, talented, reliable, and FUN group of stylists!

Over the next several weeks, we'll be introducing you to the amazing members of our stylist team.

If Jennifer Hudson knocks on your door in a COLOUR t-shirt, don't be alarmed, it's her doppelganger (don't you agree?), Boho braider extraordinaire Ashley.  Have you seen McKenzie Renae's amazing halo braid - that was her handiwork!

Click on the image below to learn more about why Ashley loves being a COLOUR stylist, her best at-home hair care tips, and what celeb she'd love to style (hint: she just celebrated a, um, Bey-day ;-).

By the way, Team COLOUR and bloggers McKenzie Renae and Jasmine Crockett will be chatting about fall fashion and hair trends at Michael Stars Ponce City Market this Saturday, September 10 from 1-3pm! Hope you'll join us for sips, shopping, and free mini-makeovers - or just to say hi!

Colourfully yours,

Debra & Stephanie

Rediscovering Atlanta's Hidden Gems.

Since moving back to Atlanta from Mexico City last year, it’s been amazing to rediscover the city with fresh eyes.

Here are some of my (Debra's) favorite spots.

Michael Stars.

My weekend wardrobe is pretty much exclusively Michael Stars tees (and Paige jeans!). I love the casual-chic vibe of Michael Stars tops and ever changing array of colors and styles. Best of all, their tees are sized “one-size-fits-most”, which makes shopping-- and gift buying-- a breeze.  Their new store in Ponce City Market is a must-visit.

Kimball House.

Oysters are having a moment, have you noticed? Located in a former train station with eclectic, old-timey decor, Kimball House is a great place to enjoy craft cocktails and oysters before, say, a show. We love to sit at the bar to chat with the bartenders who are always full of personality and Southern hospitality.

Urban Body Studios, Ponce de Leon Place.

As a working mom of four, I like my exercise sessions to be super efficient. For me, pilates has always done the trick -- and Urban Body Studios has been my go-to for years. It’s a beautiful studio and the teachers have amazing technique.

Wax Atlanta.

Proprietor (and COLOUR client!) Myka Barbato has created a gorgeous retreat in Old Fourth World for all our beauty needs. There’s Buff Nail bar, Blink Brow Bar, and of course, expert waxing leaves no, um, detail overlooked. We always discover something new here, since Barbato is the goddess of Boho-Chic, curating indie, non-toxic lines that just happen to look amazing on our countertops.

What are your favorite discoveries, Atlanta ladies?

Colourfully yours,
Debra
