Can you believe that 2018 is over, Colouristas? With 2019 almost here, it’s a chance to say out with the old and in with the new in all areas of your life — including your hair! Don’t step into the new year with the same old bad hair habits. By making a few tweaks to your routine, you can have healthier hair all year long. Here are a few resolutions that will help you step up your haircare over the next 365 days:

  1. Implement a detangling routine. We know detangling your hair can be a drag. Make the process easier by using proper styling tools and "slip-giving" products that won’t leave you with handfuls of hair post-shower. On our wash days, we always keep detangling conditioners and WetBrush tools handy to help tackle tangles and knots in hair. Of course, you can always book Colour and we'll handle the heavy lifting.

  2. Don’t skip your trims. Split ends can rob your tresses of its healthy appearance. Committing to regular trims every 2-4 months will boost hair growth and improve the look of your hair. You can add a trim to any of your Colour appointments and your stylist will be happy to snip your dead ends away.

  3. Step outside your comfort zone. If 2018 taught us anything, it’s to not be afraid to be bold and try new things. The new year is the perfect time to add a twist to your routine. Express different sides of your personality by playing around with different hairdos or hair colors. Whether you want faux locs or ombré braids, we can help you bring any look to life.

  4. Care for your scalp more. If you’re experiencing thinning or dry hair, get to the root of the problem. Make sure your scalp is receiving the treatment it deserves by giving yourself a scalp massage regularly to stimulate hair follicles. Additionally, if you use heavy styling products like gels, take time to clarify your scalp and allow it to breathe. Products like DevaCurl’s Buildup Buster are great for removing dirt from the scalp and hair.

  5. Take a look at your eating habits. When you’re on the go, it can be hard to make sure you’re eating properly. But if hair growth is one of your goals for the year, munching on the right foods is essential. Ensuring that you’re eating a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, grains, and healthy fats will not only provide nutrition for your body, but will promote healthy, long hair.
